The death of a family member is a challenging situation for anyone. But the family has to face more difficulties in claiming the investments and benefits in the name of a deceased person. A survival Member Certificate is a helpful tool for the family to claim benefits on behalf of the deceased person or the family member presenting on his behalf. Members included under the definition of legal heirs are;

  1. Class 1 Legal Heirs- Surviving Spouse, Daughter, Son, Mother.
  2. In case not having Class 1 Legal Heirs- Father and Siblings.

Eligibility Criteria for filling the application for Survival Member Certificate in Delhi are;

  1. The Individual has to be a Citizen of India.
  2. And the Individual is a Resident of Delhi.

Procedure and documents for filling out an online application in the office of the Sub-District Magistrate of a district in the National Capital Territory of Delhi;

Documents required-  

  1.  Original Death Certificate of Deceased person approved by a Govt Authority.
  2.   Copy of Identity Proof and Address Proof of Deceased Person.
  3. Exclusively for the legal heir certificate, the family must submit an undertaking affidavit by every surviving member of the deceased family and the applicant.
  4. Passport Size Photographs of every Applicant and surviving deceased family member.
  5. Address and Identity Proof of surviving deceased family member and applicant.

Applicant file an online application with very ease with the below-mentioned procedure- 

 1. Applicant easily searches the website www.district.delhigovt.nic.in and registers himself as a new user with his Identity Proof and validates the details with a one-time password by the district Delhi website on registered Mobile No.

2. log in to your account and select the application form for "Issuance of Survival Member Certificate". Fill up all mandatory details and upload scan copy of all originals. After submitting the form correctly Acknowledgement is generated.

3. Print the copy of the Acknowledgment and attach all original photocopies with it, kept originals with yourself for verification of documents at the SDM office.

4. Filling up form and Verification process completed after proper inquiry of Data the Certificate will be issued online. With Acknowledgment no. the applicant can easily download the Survival Member Certificate.

All the processes and documents are elementary. One can avail of this kind of government services, but due to lack of awareness, the deceased person's family members have to face many problems to take the benefits.
